Ultimate Cookbook for Cultural Managers: The EU Green Deal and Live Performance
Pearle* – Live Performance Europe and EFA – European Festivals Association have published the “Ultimate Cookbook for Cultural Managers: The EU Green Deal and Live Performance Organisations”, a practical guide that helps performing arts professionals and entities navigate EU law and better understand the numerous initiatives related to the EU Green Deal.
Sustainability is the most urgent matter in today’s world and should therefore be at the core of cultural organisations’ missions, projects and objectives. Additionally, given that the live performance sector is characterised by cross-border work and international cooperation, it is useful to understand common sustainability goals, political objectives, policy frameworks and measures at the EU level, especially the European Green Deal and how it impacts organisation’s day- to-day operations.
“Ultimate Cookbook for Cultural Managers” explains the principles of EU Climate Goals and helps the performing arts sector identify relevant Green Deal initiatives. In this way, it will allow organisations to gear day-to-day activities towards European climate targets.
It also encourages the reader to screen different aspects of daily work and shift the mindset to actively contribute to the EU goal to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
The publication covers all fields of the EU Green Deal impacting the live performance sector, from the circular economy to energy-related questions, sustainable mobility schemes and green funding strategies.
The publication emerged from a series of seminars and practical workshops with legal and academic experts, which began in 2015. The project covered a wide range of issues which either had a cross-border dimension or were of common interest to many cultural managers across Europe.
