Union of Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers

The Union of the Bulgarian Musicians and Dancers (UBMD) was founded in 1901 and is one of the first Bulgarian Trade Unions. Over the years the UBMD acquired serious experience and traditions. 

The UBMD comprises over 2,000 professionals in the areas of Music and Dance – performers, teachers, conductors, musicologists, ballet and folk dancers, Jazz and Pop musicians united in societies. 

Now the UBMD is the only Artist’s and Syndical Union which comprehensively takes care of its members and defends their rights which is one of Union’s strategic goals of its activity. As a Syndicate the UBMD has the mission to defend its member’s interests and rights in the Labor area such as working conditions, professional realisation, performer’s rights, and more. As a Member of the Confederation of Independent Unions in Bulgaria it has the capacity of the Representative Trade union organisation taking part in negotiating and signing of the Collective Labor Contract and the branch Music and Dance. 

For its members the Union of Bulgarian musicians and dancers provide: recreation facilities of the various creative unions which had signed agreements for free use of the library, which has a rich fund music materials, music and dance literature and manuals, legal advice, with prestigious awards World Registry "Gold, Silver and Bronze liras, which is awarded for outstanding artistic achievements on the occasion of birthday of groups and individual performers, the annual national awards "Crystal liras” in 15 genre categories, together with the Ministry of Culture and Classic FM radio.
