IAFOR Conference on Heritage - Hong Kong 2018

The International Academic Forum (IAFOR) is a research organisation, conference organiser and publisher dedicated to encouraging interdisciplinary discussion, facilitating intercultural awareness and promoting international exchange, principally through educational exchange and academic research. IAFOR’s programme in cultural and area studies is highly developed, with some of the world’s leading academic institutions coming together to celebrate the international, intercultural and interdisciplinary. In this context, IAFOR is organising an international conference on heritage at the University of Hong Kong, which will take place on 5-7 December 2018. The IAFOR Conference on Heritage – Hong Kong 2018 will bring together business leaders, teachers, researchers and distinguished professors from around the world to share their insights. The goal is to broaden awareness of different contexts in the pursuit of synergies and solutions. More specifically, this conference aims to host and promote discussions about ways in which human heritage is perceived, described, as well as managed in contemporary society, with particular focus on Asian contexts. Organisers are interested in highlighting the challenges in relation to intangible heritage, which poses issues of ethics such as property rights, political control in totalitarian regimes, and endangerment under the pressure of globalising forces.
