Australia Pavilion seeks Creative Director for the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale

None

The Australian Institute of Architects is seeking expressions of interest for the role of the Creative Director for the Australian exhibition at the 2012 Venice Architecture Biennale.

The Creative Director, or curatorial team, is the key creative intellect of each Biennale. The Creative Director will be both speculator and analyst of Australian culture, gathering the elements of a story and envisioning the exhibition that reveals the story. The Australian participation will become the exemplar for Australian design achievement. An architect’s inclusion in the exhibition will be worn with pride and considered as a pinnacle of their professional life. Those who take up an association with an individual year, or long term support, will be seen as affiliates of the very best of the Australian constructed environment and participants on the world stage of architecture and culture. In short, the Venice Biennale Committee’s vision is to cement the Australian participation in Venice as a sustainable and enduring forum that presents the highest levels of thought and design in Australian architectural culture.

The submissions are required to include the applicant's vision for the 2012 Australian exhibition as well as a proposed team to implement the vision.
