New Technological Art Award 2012 is an international art competition of the Liedts-Meesen Foundation.20 selected works will be developed for exhibition in Ghent and Brussels, with a cash prize of 5000€ for the winner.

Are you a groundbreaking artist and do you have a special affinity with technology in the broadest sense of the word? Then take a look ...

All living artists, regardless of their origin, can present their candidacy for art works less than two years old, but which may already have been exhibited. Each artist may submit only one work. The contest is international and uses English as main language.

In 2012, as part of the project Zebrastraat  in Ghent, Belgium and following the first three biennials, the Liedts-Meesen Foundation will organize update_4 update. The Foundation wishes to enhance the importance of this competition through the following measures:

- A new set of rules that is stricter but more focused on the contribution of new technologies to art
- The number of nominees having the chance to show their artwork to the public increases from 10 to 20,
- Finally, the works will be presented at three different locations: the Zebrastraat in Ghent, La Cambre in Brussels (with Caroline Mierop, Director; works will be exhibited outside only) and iMAL, also in Brussels (Yves Bernard).

The second part of the event includes an exhibition by established artists in the field of New Technological Art. Only two or three works should be exhibited at each location. Both these activities are complemented with a colloquium. During three days, artists and theorists will be invited to reflect on contemporary art in relation to new media and technology, both during private and public sessions. The traditional catalog of the Update exhibitions and Prize will be enriched with texts and conclusions of the discussions at the colloquium.

As you can see, from an exhibition combined with a contest, we will evolve into an event where contest, conference and exhibition will come together and yield a leading reference work. These principles lead to a new set of rules and the corresponding normalized registration form.
