Berlin: call for culture and sustainability initiatives

None The Call for Future is directed at everyone who wants to come up with ideas both in and for Berlin. We are looking for art projects and social initiatives conceived to go beyond what we think is possible. This makes the impossible a reality. The art of sustainable living in the 21st century needs not only global expertise, it needs the dedication and the innovative spirit of local initiatives.

Concepts for sustainable living have been circulating for quite some time now but they still have yet to take hold. Why is it taking so long to move from knowledge to action? Could it be that we are lacking attractive models for action that meet the demands of our daily lives? Carving out a future worth living is going to take a lot more than just warnings and calls for making do with less. It requires creativity, a new way of looking at the world and individual options for taking action.

Is sustainability a cultural technique that we can develop and integrate through practice? What form could the art of living take in the 21st century? Über Lebenskunst, which is the name of an initiative sponsored by the Federal Cultural Foundation in cooperation with the Haus der Kulturen der Welt (HKW), aims to identify several different approaches to this issue working together with partners from around the world.
