Berlin | Goethe Talents Scholarship 2022 – call for young musicians
The Goethe Talents Scholarship 2022 calls for young musicians to take part in activities in Berlin, 18–29 August 2022, focusing on cross-border networking and culminating in a performance at Pop-Kultur Live. The programme will select 10 applicants and musicians from Asia are among those prioritised.
Organised by Pop-Kultur Festival, in cooperation with the Goethe-Institut, activities include studio visits, intensive jam-sessions, short traineeships in Berlin creative industry companies, listening sessions, meetings with Musicboard Berlin GmbH scholarship holders and Goethe Talents alumni, and attendance at concerts.
In summer 2023, one of the Goethe 2022 alumni will hopefully get the chance to return to Berlin for a month-long Goethe residency. The aim of this residency is to support artistic and cultural exchange through the creation of a new piece of music in collaboration with a Berlin-based artist, which will then be presented in the official live programme of Pop-Kultur 2023.
Applicants are required to:
- Be a musician, composer, singer-songwriter or instrumentalist
- Have work experience in the field of music
- Speak English fluently
- Be between 20 and 30 years old
- Be from a DAC country
The programme is particularly looking for talents from the Global South, the Middle East and (Central) Asia.
Support
The Goethe-Institut will provide the participation fee, accommodation, travel expenses and a per diem. Additionally, Musicboard Berlin will provide a free Festival Ticket and other support (such as local transport and health insurance).
