Bulgaria | Plovdiv Artists in Residence Programme 2023
The Culture Department of the Municipality of Plovdiv, Bulgaria, is calling for applications, preferably from artists and groups based in Europe, for their Artists-in-Residence Programme of 4 to 6 weeks between 1 June and 31 August 2023.
The residency programme aims to produce a new artistic work in public space in response to the city’s heritage and history.
Eligibility
The programme is for professionals working in one or a combination of the following areas:
- Visual arts
- Theatre and performance
- Digital media
- Architecture and sculpture
- Music and dance
- Land art and artistic practices in public space
- Social innovation and community projects
The call is open to artists, preferably based in Europe, regardless of the stage of their career development. Artists who are Bulgarian citizens, as well as foreign citizens who currently work in Bulgaria, are eligible to apply. The participation of groups is also allowed.
Working language of the residency is English and Bulgarian.
The organiser covers the following costs:
- 2,000 BGN: remuneration covering travel expenses, living expenses, and an artistic fee
- 5,000 BGN: production costs for the realisation of the creative concepts
The organiser also provides living and working space in a shared residential house – the Nishaniyan House – as well as support for research and organising public events.
