Cambodia Media Grant
The Cambodia Media Grant aims to fund eight media stories about crucial issues facing the country and its people. Selected projects can receive up to 1,500 Euros in funding alongside mentorship by our editorial advisory team which will provide professional expertise and advice.
As we embark on a brand new year with the hope of overcoming the immense challenges brought about by Covid-19, one thing is for sure – the pandemic has exacerbated existing issues faced by Cambodians, revealing vulnerable communities at risk and brought attention to the need for people to be informed and to be empowered to create better futures for themselves and their families.
The Cambodia Media Grant seeks to facilitate the creation of stories which will help provide vital information and fresh perspectives to the public, which in turn helps them to better understand the issues thaAttention! Thanks to your feedback, we have updated our eligibility criteria to allow applications from those who are employed full-time. Please see full guidelines for updated details.
The grant is to both individual and group applications. Non-Cambodians can apply only as part of a group application with at least one Cambodian national as a lead partner in the same project.
Applicants currently employed have to declare their current place of work and position. (Please note, employees at media/news outlets cannot use this grant to produce projects to be published at their current place of work.)
Format: We are open to all forms of media which allows you to convey your story effectively. This includes written articles, photo essays, videos, multimedia, infographics, comic explainers and podcasts.
Topic: Stories have to be based in Cambodia and include at least one issue covered by any of the following Sustainable Development Goals.
- Goal 2: Zero Hunger
- Goal 3: Good Health & Well-Being
- Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production
- Goal 13: Climate action
- Goal 15: Life on land
Grant Amount: The amount disbursed will range from 500- 1,500Euros. The amount will be decided based on the estimated budget you submit in the form.
The deadline to submit your proposal is 11 February 2021. (6.00pm Cambodia time)
The selection results will be announced shortly after. All projects have to be completed by 31 March 2021.
The Cambodia Media Grant call is presented by Angkor Photo Festival & Workshops. The programme is part of the MekongNews project, implemented in the Mekong region by CFI, the French media development agency, and supported by the French Ministry of Europe and Foreign Affairs.
