China | 2024 ICCI Art Valley Programme Visiting Artists

USC-SJTU Institute of Cultural and Creative Industry, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and MANA – Global new media art platform are calling for applications from international visual artists for their 2024 ICCI Art Valley Programme Visiting Artists, from 1 November to 15 December 2024 in Shanghai, China.

The programme will centre on international artists who work with comprehensive media materials in their art practice. With the continuous development of science and technology, the mediums and boundaries of artistic works have been constantly redefined, which has reshaped public perceptions of society, culture, and the artworks themselves. The programme specifically focuses on the convergence of ‘Art plus Technology’, exploring innovative fusion between ‘Technology’ and ‘Regional culture’, while also delving into the global perspective of contemporary art and cultural diversity.

ICCI is openly recruiting five international artists and scholars to participate. Selected visiting artists will hold exhibitions at art Museums in downtown Shanghai, virtual Space, and the Shanghai Jiao Tong University History Museum.

What is provided?

Applicants who have been approved by the organising committee can receive at least 10,000 CNY in project funding (including lecture/workshop fees and material allowances, according to the background and experience). Additionally, the organisers will provide reimbursement, including for the following:

  • Round-trip airfare (economy class) from the departure city to Shanghai.
  • Accommodation in a hotel or apartment near the SJTU campus.
  • Participation in a group exhibition at a gallery in downtown Shanghai and at the Shanghai Jiao Tong University History Museum.
  • Participate in artistic activities and engage in communication and cooperation with Chinese local artists.
  • Promotion and media coverage.
  • Assistance from 1–2 student assistant(s) with lectures, exhibition preparation, and other related tasks.
