China | Topu Town Art Residency 2024

Art Residency @ Topu Town, organised by Pien Chih-lin Art Museum and Plain Studio in Nantong, China, is calling for applications from international artists of any discipline to attend the residency for two weeks between 15 June and 9 August 2024.

Situated in the Yangtze River Delta of China, adjacent to Shanghai, Topu Town is a township known for its concentration of high-tech industries. Surrounding a picturesque lake, the town's streets feature numerous charming restaurants and cafes, a cosy bookstore, as well as a small theatre and many artists' studios.

During each residency period, two artists are hosted for short-term stays, with the aim of fostering stronger, interactive collaborations. 

Eligibility

  • Open to artists of any nationality
  • All disciplines are welcome, including but not limited to visual art, performance art, digital art, music, photography, and literature, and more
  • Applicants must have at least two years of art making experience
  • Text-related work is limited to Chinese/English only

Support provided

  • A fee allowance for land transportation from the nearest airport or train station (the artist is responsible for international/domestic transportation) 
  • A double or standard room accommodation 
  • A daily allowance of 150 RMB
  • Comprehensive assistance to the artists (including language support and artist studio visits)
  • Support for one public activity (such as a workshop, sharing session, screening, etc.)
