Finland | Residency for Hong Kong artists

Hong Kong’s Art Promotion Office (APO) and Finland’s Helsinki International Artist Programme (HIAP) are calling for applications from Hong Kong visual artists for a three-month residency in Suomenlinna, a cluster of islands situated off the coast of Helsinki, Finland.  

Applicants are welcome to submit creative proposals in visual art or cross-disciplinary media. One participant will be selected to undertake the residency programme, tentatively scheduled from 15 April to 15 July 2023.

Eligibility 

  • Hong Kong resident
  • Individuals
  • Capacity to communicate in English

Support provided

  • A commissioning fee of not more than 105,000 HKD (final amount will be decided based on the production budget). The fee covers direct production cost including: artist’s fee (20,000 HKD), airfare, artwork production costs, material costs, installation and dismantling fees, costs of transporting the artworks and work-in-progress materials back to Hong Kong, and insurance, etc. 
  • Residence studio and apartment space, material and technical assistance, local living allowance (1,300 EUR per month for a maximum of three months). 

The commissioned participant shall bear all other expenses incurred due to the trip.
