The Quartz New Media Arts award rewards innovative works that use new media and technology. Applications are invited for works integrating new technologies and works using and questioning opportunities offered by machines and the digital era. This includes interactive, audio-visual, digital, and collaborative works and the contest is open to new media artists, groups or collectives from all over the world.

Qwartz is an organization that promotes and supports independent artistic creation through an international contest. At the closing ceremony of each edition of Qwartz, independent labels and artists are acknowledged with prizes and endowments. Today Quartz has assembled 3,000 labels and 10,000 artists. The prizes reward all aspects of contemporary artistic creation: audio-visual and graphic, instrumental, technological innovation, and new media arts.

A special jury has been appointed to select the winner which will be launched during Qwartz 5th edition this year. The New Media Arts prize will, for the first time, be awarded to a creation rather than the artist.  This year the New Media Arts Jury composed of 6 to 8 new media professionals: curators, festival directors, journalists, critics, auctioneers will be presided over by Pierre Cornette de Saint-Cyr.

The Qwartz New Media Arts prize-winner will be announced during the Awards Closing Ceremony  on Friday, the 1st of April, 2011 at the International New Music Market to be held in Paris on the 2nd  and 3rd of  April, 2011. Artists, labels, institutions and partners from all over the world will be present.
