Germany | Residency for artists from the Philippines and Malaysia
Call for artists living and working in the Philippines and Malaysia for a three-month residency from 1 November 2022 to 31 January 2023 in Leipzig, Germany.
The residency takes place at the Art and Culture Centre Leipziger Baumwollspinnerei and is offered by the Goethe-Institute in collaboration with LIA-Leipzig International Art Programme.
LIA is a thirteen-year-old art programme and non-profit artist residency at the Spinnerei Leipzig, a 10-hectare internationally known art factory of over 120 art studios, galleries and art institutions.
The site of the residency, the old Baumwollspinnerei (cotton mill), was the site of Europe’s largest processing centre for cotton in the beginning of the 20th century. Today it houses the cultural centre for the production and exhibition of contemporary art and culture in Europe.
About the residency
LIA offers an 80 m² furnished studio to live and work in. In addition, the Goethe-Institut covers international travel and gives artists a monthly stipend of EUR 1,000 for living, insurance and material costs.
The residency includes the production of one etching motif at Atelier für Radierung Maria and Vlado Ondrej, where artists can learn techniques of etching in a one-on-one workshop.
For this residency, English skills are required.
Deadline: 30 April 2022
This project is funded by the Goethe-Institut in Southeast Asia.
