Gwaertler Grant 2025

The Gwaertler Grant supports work in the arts from all over the world that seeks to make a concrete difference to the context in which it is presented. The grant is specifically geared towards practitioners in all of the arts who are getting started on a project and need support for a wide range of activities, such as:

  • archival research
  • connecting with people from other disciplines
  • active fieldwork
  • cross-cultural collaboration
  • conducting interviews
  • taking courses
  • organising workshops
  • experimenting with techniques
  • voluntary apprenticeships
  • durational exercises
  • and more

Gwaertler Stiftung is a Swiss artist-run foundation that wants to support artistic endeavours that present new perspectives and are in the process of carving out a singular trail to get there. They seek practitioners who question not only society but also themselves, who take nothing for granted and whose independence and inventiveness may cause them to fall outside conventional funding categories. They place value on process and research with the belief that art is essential to the sustainability and development of a diverse cultural environment and thus enriches a shared society.

Grant

The amount of the award for successful applicants (maximum 12,000 CHF) depends on the funds available for each funding round.
