Indonesia | 2023 artist in residence for French designers
CushCush Gallery (CCG) in Bali, Indonesia is calling for applications from French designers for their funded Artist Designer in Residence programme (ADIR), from 28 May to 2 July 2023.
Presented in collaboration with the French Embassy in Indonesia and the French Institute in Jakarta, the programme aims to join French design and Balinese crafts. French designers will be invited to immerse themselves into Bali’s unique culture while discovering the island’s natural materials and traditional techniques in a direct dialogue with Balinese artisans. Based on their experimentations and interpretations, the designers will create a collection of objects.
The collection will be produced as a collaboration between the designers and CushCush Gallery and will be presented at various design fairs and events in Indonesia and France.
As a culmination of the residency, the designers will give a presentation about their Balinese journey and creative process. Following that event at CushCush Gallery, the designers will embark on a one-week roadshow to Yogyakarta, Bandung and Jakarta, as well as participate in the 2024 Paris Design Week (Maison et Objet) trade fair.
