International MANGA Award
An international call is open for the 9th International MANGA Award, an initiative founded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Japan. Manga works, either published or unpublished, and produced outside Japan of 24 or more pages may be submitted.
Deadline for entries: 12 June 2015
Conditions of entry (see website for full details);
- The MANGA works (24 or more pages) must have been produced outside Japan.
- The works which have received the past International Manga Awards are excluded.
- Both published and unpublished works are eligible, but the MANGA works should have been produced within three years proceeding the date of application (2012-2015).
- The works must be submitted in printed form (they can be sent to the organisers in Japan or to your own country's Japanese Embassy or Consulate General)
In 2014, the Gold Award was won by Mr Nambaral Erdenebayar of Mongolia for Bumbardai (top image); he was the first ever award winner from Mongolia.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan founded the International MANGA Award in 2007 for the purpose of expanding international exchange and mutual understanding through the MANGA culture which is widely accepted around the world. This award honours the MANGA artists who are contributing to the development of MANGA culture in the world
