Ireland | Light Moves Festival 2023 for dance, film and media arts
Light Moves Festival is calling for submissions of screendance works and open format presentations for the 7th festival taking place 9–11 November 2023 in Limerick, Ireland.
Celebrating adventurous dance, film and media arts, Light Moves Festival presents vibrant experiences bridging dance, new media and screen-based practices. They welcome audiences, artists and films from all over the world.
Light Moves Open Call for Submissions: Films and Gallery works
Light Moves Festival invites filmmakers, dance artists, choreographers and visual artists to submit screendance works for consideration for the forthcoming 2023 programme of dance, film and media art, with movement as a central focus.
This open call is suitable for both screendance works and films, and screendance works made for a gallery context.
This year there are 6 categories:
- Screendance films not exceeding 15 mins
- Screendance films not exceeding 40 mins
- Screendance feature length films over 40 mins
- Screendance works for Gallery Installation
- Screendance Open Format
- Student Films

Light Moves Call for Proposals: Open Format presentation platform
This open call invites proposals or provocations that go beyond the parameters of the festival’s screenings and exhibition presentation. Proposals may include discussion forums, exploratory workshop, performance-lecture, interviews, talks, reading groups, listening sessions, sitting or walking sessions, broadcasts, parties, podcasts, publications, research-orientated projects.
