Italy | 5th SMACH Biennale open call
SMACH is an international call for artists proposals for a land art biennale, taking place in the Dolomite mountains in Italy. SMACH – Constellation of art, culture & history in the Dolomites” is a land art project born in 2012. An outdoor biennial exhibition which supports the marriage of art and nature. Every edition features 10 artistic creations assembled in the heart of the Dolomites which are specifically created and adapted to different natural sites. The works’ aim is to spark the interest of visitors for art and highlight the area in which they have been assembled by creating a constant dialogue between art and nature.
The fifth edition of SMACH in 2021 puts the the word ‘FRAGILE’ as its main focus. What do frailty and fragility mean in our world? After all, being fragile can mean a lot. Headlines say the current pandemic has shone a light on the fragility of institutions and globalisation; while according to the Oxford dictionary, “delicate”, “dainty” and “fine” are synonyms of fragile. The world and peace are fragile – but so are human relations at times.
The artworks selected by the jury will be exhibited in 10 different natural locations in Val Badia, Italy.
Prizes: the selected artists/group of artists (10 in total) will each receive a prize money of 2,000 €.
