Japan | Beppu international artist residency | open call

None

Beppu Project is now calling for artists from various disciplines in the contemporary art field to submit a project on the theme "SPACE-TIME". The project will be shown in one or two streets in Beppu downtown in southern Japan, in collaboration with the local activity (small shops, café, restaurant). Also, artists will be invited to participate to a forum-discussion with local population to talk and exchange ideas about the art work.

The npo BEPPU PROJECT runs this international artistic residency program in Beppu (Japan) thanks to a five-year grant from the Agency for Cultural Affairs in Japan. Beppu city is very famous for its natural hot spring baths and therapy. Kashima, in Japanese, is the accommodation's name where you stay during spa therapy. Referring to this image, BEPPU PROJECT encourages artists to stay in Beppu and take time to nurture a creation. Also, through this residency we aim to present creations of the international artistic world into a local scene.
