Japan | Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale 2027

The Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale (ETAT) is calling for submissions of art projects and performance works, to be held at the 10th edition in 2027. 

The chosen artworks are‬‭ expected to highlight the unique history and culture of Echigo-Tsumari region and‬‭ feature distinctive and abundant nature that has the power to raise awareness of‬‭ Echigo-Tsumari internationally.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

There are two categories.‬

  • ‭A: Free Proposal‬:‭ A proposal for an artwork or performance to be developed at the‬‭ Echigo-Tsumari Art Triennale, specifying the location.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
  • ‭B: Proposal for a selected site/project‬: Choose from a‭ list of site‬‭ options.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

In principle, works must remain in good condition for‬‭ at least four months. For performances, there must be at least one performance day‬‭ during the exhibition period, or multiple days/performances.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

Support

‭Selected artists will be awarded a production cost subsidy (approximately 500,000–2,500,000 JPY)‬. The production cost subsidy covers all costs necessary, including travel and accommodation. ‬‬‬‬‬‬
