Japan Foundation Kuala Lumpur grants 2024–2025
The Japan Foundation, Kuala Lumpur (JFKL) offers grant to support activities which promote, introduce and deepen understanding of Japan, its language and culture, as well to support projects which encourage multilateral cultural exchange between Malaysia, Singapore and Brunei Darussalam and Japan.
One of the streams is for projects concerning Japan in the field of Japanese Arts and Cultural Exchange.
Example of possible projects includes: Inviting Japanese artists from Japan to conduct a Japanese culture-related project such as performance, art exhibition, artist-in-residence and film screening. Projects related to Japanese art or works are acceptable.
Grant amount: Up to 15,000 MYR
Eligible costs include the following:
- Honorarium/artist fee for artists and lecturers (including interpreter and translator)
- Per diem allowances to cover daily food and minor transportation costs and telecommunication costs
- Major transportation costs including international and domestic flight, hired coach or van
- Freight costs
- Accommodation
- Rental fees for venue and equipment
- Publicity or public relations expenses
- Fees for visa and permit application
- Purchase of teaching/learning materials
- Other costs agreed by JFKL
There is also a category for projects concerning Japanese Studies and Global Partnerships, which includes projects related to the role of culture in diplomacy and international relations.
Projects can be physical and online (with applications submitted 3 months before the event) or only online (with applications submitted 1 month before the event).
