Japan | Saison Artist in Residence Visiting Fellow 2024

The Saison Foundation is calling for applications from international artists and arts managers for their Saison Artist in Residence Visiting Fellow programme for contemporary theatre and dance, to be held in Tokyo, Japan, in two different periods between November 2024 and March 2025.

Saison Artist in Residence Visiting Fellow aims to build up an international network for contemporary performing arts and to enhance mutual understanding, and gives opportunities for international artists and arts managers to research the contemporary performing arts scene in Japan. The programme supports research visits to Japan for those who are expected to play an important role in the international performing arts scene.

One international artist and one international arts manager will be selected as Visiting Fellows 2024.

There are two residency periods available:

28 November – 24 December 2024
23 January – 25 March 2025

The Saison Foundation provides a grant, which can include the following:

One round-trip Economy-class ticket
Living expenses (5,000 JPY per day excluding the days of arrival and departure)
Research and activities costs (up to 5,000 JPY per day excluding the days of arrival and departure), with the total upper limit, 500,000 JPY for each artist and arts manager who meet the requirements outlined in the application guidelines.
