The British Council is currently recruiting for the post of Partnership Development Director, Arts and Creative Industries East Asia. Based in Singapore or Hong Kong, the new Director will work with regional arts team across 14 countries of East Asia. Purpose of job: Reporting to Director Arts and Creative Industries, and based in Singapore or Hong Kong, the Partnership Development Director will work with the regional arts team in close collaboration with the Arts Directors in 14 countries to develop and expand partnership for regional and priority country programmes, to secure income targets and to build capacity in partnership development in the arts team in the region.
With the Regional Director Arts and Creative Industries, the Partnership Development Manager will define and secure the resources required to deliver the programmes. He/she will manage resources and relationships to ensure cost effective and appropriate programme roll-out.
Context and environment: The British Council creates international opportunities for the people of the UK and other countries and builds trust between them worldwide. The British Council East Asia region comprises 14 markets. It is an extremely diverse region, ranging from developed markets with sophisticated infrastructures (Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, New Zealand, Singapore, Korea & Taiwan) to developing markets with fledgling but growing infrastructure (China, Burma, Indonesia, Malaysia, Philippines, Thailand & Vietnam).
The Arts and Creative Industries are core to our East Asia strategy. Our aim is to develop an Arts & Creative Industries portfolio consisting of a mix of grant/partnership funded activity, co-funded programmes and build-up of paid for’ FCR products and services with a total value of over 5 M GPB. Our programme focuses on policy development, skills development and artistic excellence, reaching directly and digitally 30Million people. We aim to strengthen both the cultural sector relations between the UK and East Asia, as well as the interconnections between the Arts, Society & Education sector. We are developing in close collaboration with other business units a full spectrum of skills from creative education, through to cultural skills, entrepreneurship, and cultural leadership.
In our programming we seek for regional synergies and pro-actively develop regional or subregional programmes to amplify our impact and to offer co-funding partners programmes of scale to collaborate with us. We recently launched a regional programme on connecting arts & creativity for social change (Elevate). We are conducting a regional programme on creative education and develop regional umbrella programme on crafts/innovation/access to markets and in literature.
The regional team assists in the development of content and partnerships for in country major seasons in Korea and Indonesia and creative economy focus countries (eg China, Korea, Vietnam, Japan) or support towards development of major initiatives like the digital showcasing platform in China.
Location: Singapore or Hong Kong Salary. Payband 8 (min 7,950 SDG per month or 53,755 HK$ per month) Contract: 2 years+ with possible one year extension subject to agreement.
