Kyoto Writers Residency 2024

Kyoto Writers Residency is now accepting applications for the 2024 residency from 28 September to 27 October.

Kyoto Writers Residency is dedicated to providing a place for writers and translators around the world to focus on their writing. The residency works in collaboration with universities in Kyoto as well as other public and private organisations.

Eligibility:

Fiction writers and/or poets of any language(s) with at least one full-length book publication are eligible. (Nonfiction only writers are NOT eligible.)
The applicants must be able to participate in the residency and its official events in full.
Applicants are encouraged to provide proposals for outreach events other than the two official events.

What is provided?

The residency will offer a full fellowship for one author in the Japanese language and a few author(s) in non-Japanese language(s). (French Belgium authors must apply through Wallonia-Brussels International.)
