‘Living at the Urban Seafront’ exhibition call for photographs from Jakarta
‘Living at the Urban Seafront’ is an international exhibition on flood protection architecture, public space and everyday life under the condition of sea level rise in Jakarta and Bremen and the project is now calling for photographs from Jakarta.
The project is conceived and implemented by Bremen Centre for Building Culture, Goethe-Institut Indonesia, Fotoetage Bremen, and the international POLIS-SEA Network and is financed with the support of City University of Applied Sciences, Bremen, and Goethe-Institut Indonesia.
‘Living at the Urban Seafront’ aims at initiating a visual dialogue between Jakarta and Bremen that fosters an exchange on the consequences of climate change for coastal metropolises. These moments of awareness-raising are needed to draw on the experience of globally shared challenges to develop local options for dealing with the consequences of climate change and to generate new ideas for possible adaptation.
The project is looking for photographs that show the relationship between flood protection architectures, public space, people, and everyday life in Jakarta. They are particularly interested in works that emphasise the need for inclusion, accessibility, socio-spatial justice and democracy in relation to flood protection, as well as the socio-political dimension of climate adaptation.
Each applicant can submit up to three entries.
The selected artists/collectors will receive a lump sum of the equivalent of 200 EUR for the fee and postage to the office in Jakarta (if applicable). Goethe-Institut and its team will arrange and oversee production.
