Malaysia | Asian Producers’ Platform Camp 2024
Emerging and established producers of performing and interdisciplinary arts from Asian countries are invited to apply to the Asian Producers’ Platform Camp 2024, held in Kuala Lumpur and Penang, Malaysia, 13–20 July 2024.
The Asian Producers Platform (APP) gather performing arts producers from across Asia to develop industry networks, friendships and knowledge. The meeting allows participants to explore producing as a creative practice and deepen intercultural practice.
Taking place over 8 days, participants will have the opportunity to explore the local arts and cultural ecosystems in Malaysia, specifically in Kuala Lumpur and Penang. Through a varied programme of activities including site visits, lectures, discussions, research, performances and peer exchange, participants gain an understanding of the local arts and cultural scenes.
Participants will learn about local cultural policy and the landscape in which artists work, while meeting, exchanging and learning from fellow producers from across Asia. Participants will also build in depth understanding about the challenges and opportunities faced by Malaysian producers and artists, in relation to local and international socio-political contexts.
Note that APP Camp 2024 is taking place around the same time as The Georgetown Festival and APP will be partnering with the Festival to facilitate participation in the programme.
Southeast Asian practitioners are particularly encouraged to apply and there will be a negotiated discount for participants from Thailand, Myanmar, Lao PDR, Cambodia, Viet Nam, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brunei, The Philippines and East Timor.
