Netherlands | Jan van Eyck Academie residency 2026
Jan van Eyck Academie is calling for applications from artists and designers coming from all fields, architects, curators, writers and other artistic researchers, makers and critical thinkers, including duos and collectives, to apply for an 11-month residency in Maastricht, the Netherlands. The residency period is15 January – 15 December 2026.
Each selected participant receives the time and space to further their artistic practice with the expert support of advisers, the curator/resident liaison, the departments of Nature Research and Education & Development, as well as the library and the labs – Photography & Audiovisual, Material Matters, Food, Printing & Publishing, and Future Materials.
Participants can get actively involved in institutional (public) programmes where speculative concepts are tested and the pressing socio-environmental challenges of today are debated.
The Jan van Eyck is open to a wide array of disciplines and approaches, ranging from material-based to research-driven practices, addressing both urgent global issues and more personal inquiries. A total of 30–32 positions are selected through this general call. Next to individuals, duos, collectives as well as candidates with child(ren) are welcome to apply.
Support
- Housing
- A monthly stipend between 1,500 EUR and 4,500 EUR, depending on the number of people (of which the rental fee for accommodation, including service costs, is deducted)
- An annual working budget of 2,000 EUR to be spent on the realisation of their individual projects during the residency period
- If relevant, the Jan van Eyck applies for a visa on behalf of the participant
