New Delhi | Gati Summer Dance Residency
Gati Summer Dance Residency (GSDR) Special edition 2016: Laboratory for Young Choreographers. 3 weeks programme in New Delhi open for applications.
To be held in New Delhi between 5-26 June, the 2016 edition of Gati Summer Dance Residency (GSDR) has been conceived of as a 3-week laboratory for young choreographers, with an intensive programme that includes classes, workshops, lectures, discussions on choreography, context and criticality with a range of practitioners from the field of performance-making. This special edition of GSDR, with a distinct focus on finding a choreographic starting point through directed tasks and discussions, will culminate in a sharing of short sketches created by the residents during the laboratory.
GSDR 2016- Laboratory for Young Choreographers will include the following components:
1. An intense programme of workshops with experienced practitioners
2. Studio time with feedback and discussion
3. Final sharing of choreographic sketches
NOTE: Residents will not be creating new works during GSDR 2016, unlike the previous editions of the residency.
WHO CAN APPLY?
If you are a dancer/choreographer looking for a safe environment to define or challenge your working methodologies;
If you think you would benefit from exchanging ideas and receiving inputs on performance-making from peers and experienced artists in the field;
If you want to engage in an intense dialogue about dance-making, choreography and criticality;
If you are looking for a space to identify and articulate some of the possible starting points in terms of your interests as a choreographer;
If you want feedback on how to build a choreographic project;
Then GSDR 2016- Laboratory for Young Choreographers may be for you!
WHAT WILL GSDR PROVIDE SELECTED APPLICANTS?
A weekly subsistence allowance of Rs. 5,000/- per week to outstation residents
A weekly subsistence allowance of Rs. 1,000/- per week to Delhi-based residents
A travel reimbursement up to Rs 5000 to outstation residents
WHAT WILL GSDR NOT PROVIDE?
Health Insurance: The residents have to arrange and pay for their own health insurance during the period of the residency. Gati Dance Forum will not be liable for any medical costs. However, there will be a first aid box at hand for basic injuries.
Accommodation: GSDR will not provide accommodation to any resident. However, the Gati team can suggest some convenient accommodation for the duration of the residency for outstation residents. Gati Dance Forum will NOT pay for this.
