Norway | Haugesund International Relief Print Festival open call
Open call for Norway's first international festival of relief printmaking. Haugesund International Relief Print Festival (the HIT festival) will be launched in May 2019. It aims at celebrating tradition and innovation within relief print, woodcut and linocut.
The HIT festival will be a juried exhibition, open to all print artists. Each artist may contribute with one work of art. Up to four items in the same series will be regarded as one work of art. Among the prints selected by the jury to proceed from the first stage, three works will finally be announced as prize winners with sums of respectively NOK 100 000, 50 000 and 30 000.
The first prize winner will be invited to give a separate exhibition in Haugesund Billedgalleri (Haugesund Museum of Fine Art) in 2021. The winning work will be acquired by the gallery and made part of the gallery’s art collection.
Artists may apply with works within relief print (wood print, lino print etc.). Relief print works combined with other techniques/expressions are also welcome. If other materials are involved, the main element must be relief print.
The HIT festival is a joint event between Haugalandmuseene (the Haugaland museums) and Haugesund Municipality and will take place in Haugesund Billedgalleri, which is a department of the museums, May 10th to August 4th.
