Nottingham International Microfilm Festival | open call
International call for entries for the first Nottingham International Microfilm Festival - NIM Fest is Nottingham's introduction to, and celebration of, Microfilm: the Chinese film industry phenomenon.
Running from 15 - 20 October 2015 in Nottingham, UK, this festival will include:
- Category screenings,
- Master classes/talks from leading industry professionals
- A production market event designed to support, promote and encourage an understanding of and access to the screen industries, including microfilms.
Commonly misunderstood to simply mean 'very short/small films', microfilms are actually an extended version of the short film sector, which can involve not only short production timeframes, low costs and short length films, but also any short film piece that offers promotion, whether personal, training or corporate and that can be consumed on-line as well as in theatres. This can include music videos, personal videos, adverts, documentaries, animations, gaming animations ... the list goes on!
For a further understanding of microfilms check out our 'What is Microfilm?' section.
As microfilms are already established as a sector of filmmaking in China we are looking to encourage an understanding and engagement with our UK audience and filmmaking talent as well as connecting businesses to filmmakers and encourage collaborations.
Through providing 5 categories within the festival we are encouraging a range of filmmakers to engage with the festival and therefore its audience. These categories are:
- Drama
- Animation
- Documentary
- Extreme short
- Student Competition (Nottingham related campuses only)
