One Dollar Webdoc | call for submissions
One Dollar Webdoc is a collaborative multimedia project that connects emerging filmmakers around the world under a common goal to share unique accounts of individuals living with limited resources.
Organised by the Bophana Audio Visual Resources Center, this project will collect short, five to seven minute videos—produced on a local, grassroots level—and publish them online for the world to see. The mosaic of portraits will inform people about transversal issues that affect poor communities and generate an online dialogue where areas of need can be identified and trigger further action.
This call will run throughout the year 2014 and is open to filmmakers, photographers, journalists.
Founded by award-winning filmmaker Rithy Panh, the Bophana Center collects image and sound archives related to Cambodia and gives the general public free access to this unique heritage. The Center also trains young Cambodians in the fields of cinema and new media, to enhance their understanding of the creation process and inspire meaningful productions about their own culture.
With the One Dollar Project, Bophana hopes to inspire young filmmakers both in Cambodia and abroad to use the power of media for social justice.
