Slated to run from 15 May to 14 June 2020, the exhibition will feature artists and collectives based in the region who are able to display a strong portfolio of printmaking practices. Focused on the mediums of print and papermaking, STPI invites artists from Southeast Asia to submit works to be included in the show. The deadline for submissions is 3 April 2020.
STPI has been a trailblazer in championing and promoting printmaking both in Singapore and internationally since it was founded in 2002. It has built a strong programme of exhibitions around its residency programme, working with established artists to expand their oeuvre to incorporate print and paper. Printmakers’ Assembly further opens up the gallery space to show artworks beyond those produced in STPI’s Creative Workshop.
Application for Printmakers’ Assembly is open to printmakers and print enthusiasts based in Southeast Asia. Works submitted for consideration by the selection committee must be rooted in the practice of printmaking, from competencies in the four fundamental printmaking categories such as relief, intaglio, lithography and screenprint, to contemporary methods and combinations that revitalise and expand the possibilities of print. The exhibition will be supported by a host of public programmes aiming to foster appreciation towards print techniques, approaches and discourse in the climate of contemporary art.
STPI’s selection committee will be looking for innovative works that demonstrate prowess, expertise, as well as technical and conceptual capabilities within printmaking. If selected, the works will be displayed as part of the Printmakers’ Assembly exhibition which opens the evening of Friday 15 May 2020 at STPI – Creative Workshop & Gallery.
