Pina Bausch Fellowship 2018 for Dance and Choreography
“It is not about art, and also not about mere skills. It is about life and about discovering a language for life.”
This is how Pina Bausch describes the reason for dancing. The Arts Foundation of NRW and the Pina Bausch Foundation carry on her artistic credo with a co-developed grant programme - in order for the “Tanzland NRW” to take responsibility for a further educational professionalising in a global context.
The Pina Bausch Fellowship enables dancers and choreographers around the world to discover new forms of expression as a temporary member of an ensemble of their choice or to look into the working methods of a renowned choreographer. The aim of the fellowship is to extend the own repertoire of movements and to find new, individual means of expression - in order to spur the personal, artistic development. A public presentation in Wuppertal will exhibit the experiences and the results made in this.
The Fellowship is promoted internationally, the application period for 2018 begins on June 1st and ends on September 15th, 2017. The grant holders are selected by a specifically composed panel. They can stay 3 to 6 months and get a monthly allowance and the travel expenses. Up to four fellowships are granted each year.
