Prince Claus Seed Awards 2025
The Prince Claus Fund is calling for applications from emerging artists and culture practitioners who work in contexts where cultural expression is under pressure for the 2025 Seed Award. The Prince Claus Fund offers 100 Awards.
The Seed Award offers support to talented and engaged emerging artists and cultural practitioners who are committed to improving their contexts and societies through socially and politically engaged work. The Award is particularly to support those with a grounded and innovative art practice that is inclusive in its process, implementation, and reach.
The Seed Award is a trust-based grant, allowing recipients to determine the best way to utilise the support for their artistic and cultural development. Examples of activities include:
- Participation in residency programmes, festivals, workshops, etc;
- Time and space with reduced financial pressure for the development of a personal project;
- Investment in materials needed for ongoing work;
- Compensation for collaborators.
Eligibility
The Award welcomes applications from individual applicants who:
- are within the initial 1 to 5 years of their professional career;
- have a practice that addresses pressing social/political issues;
- have received little to no institutional support for their artistic/cultural practices;
- are from, living, and working in our eligible countries in Africa, Asia, Latin America, the Caribbean, the Middle East, and Eastern Europe.
Eligible countries include the following ASEM nations: Bangladesh, Cambodia, China, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Lao PDR, Malaysia, Mongolia, Myanmar, Pakistan, Philippines, Thailand, Viet Nam.
Support
Recipients receive a grant of 5,000 EUR to invest in developing their artistic and cultural practice on their own terms.
