Sapporo International Art Festival | open calls for creative submissions
Sapporo International Art Festival (SIAF 2014) announces two international calls for creative submissions. An Urban Soundscape Competition invites international entries, with the winning submission to be played in public spaces during the event. A call for public art proposals seeks Ideas on Renovating the Former Sapporo Court of Appeals.
SIAF 2014 is a new International Art Festival to be held July-September 2014 in Sapporo, northern Japan, as part of the activities conducted under the "Creative City Sapporo" initiative. The Guest Director is Ryuichi Sakamoto and the theme of SIAF 2014 is City and Nature.

2: Competition for Ideas on Renovating the Former Sapporo Court of Appeals
The Creative City Sapporo International Art Festival Executive Committee issues worldwide invitation for ideas regarding the future use of the historic Former Sapporo Court of Appeals (a.k.a. Shiryokan) in relation to its planned renovation to create a center for the expression of local creativity. The most outstanding idea will be showcased during SIAF 2014, and Guest Director Ryuichi Sakamoto will present it to the Mayor of Sapporo.
The Executive Committee invites ideas on how to add new value to the Former Sapporo Court of Appeals as a local cultural and tourist hub. Ideas submitted will ideally consider the use of the facility’s functions in terms of creativity, public nature, archivability and technology.
NOTE: there are two stages for the application:
1. Email registration of applicants: December 1, 2013 – March 31, 2014
2. Submission of proposals: March 1 – April 30, 2014
