Setouchi Triennale 2019 | call for proposals
Setouchi Art Triennale has an international call for site-specific art projects utilizing the local resources of each venue of the Setouchi Triennale 2019. Site visits (most of the potential sites are on small islands in the Seto Inland Sea, Japan) are organised in November.
A number of different categories are proposed:
- Site-specific work
- Site-specific performance and event (projects including residency available as their theme)
- Project facilitating interaction and exchange
- Food project (using local ingredients and collaborating with local people)
- Project that promotes local culture through “craft”
- Other
About 5 to 20 works will be selected (subject to circumstances)
The selected applicants will be paid for production costs amounting from 500,000 yen to 2,500,000 yen.
※The final budget will be decided based on the estimates and other data submitted by the applicant.
Site Visit Tours:
1st tour: November 11 and 12, 2017
2nd tour: November 18 and 19, 2017
※Advance application is required. Detailed information will be provided on our website after October 10, 2017
※Whether you participate or not in the site visit tours has no effect on the screening process.
You can apply without participating in a site visit tour.
Deadline: Must be received by January 31, 2018

Spring: April 26 – May 26 | 31 days
Summer: July 19 – August 25 | 38 days
Autumn: September 28 – November 4 | 38 days
Venues: Naoshima, Teshima, Megijima, Ogijima, Shodoshima, Oshima, Inujima, Shamijima, Honjima, Takamijima, Awashima, Ibukijima, Takamatsu Port, Uno Port
An application fee of 1000 Yen per proposal is payable.
