Call For Applications for two research degree programmes (Masters of Arts (Research) and Doctor of Philosophy) on 'Spaces of the Curatorial' led by The School of Art, Design and Media, Nanyang Technological University Singapore, in collaboration with the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (CCA).

The programmes start in August 2015

The School of Art, Design and Media at Nanyang Technological University (NTU) Singapore, in collaboration with the NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore offers programmes leading to a Master of Arts (Research) degree and a Doctor of Philosophy degree. The newly established NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore (CCA) located in Gillman Barracks, a contemporary arts cluster in Singapore that is home to 17 international art galleries, provides the opportunity for ADM to offer a dedicated focus on "Spaces of the Curatorial" in addition to the existing areas of graduate and post-graduate study in Art, Design and Media.

The pioneering programmes will allow MA students and PhD candidates to pursue independent research within the framework of contemporary critical discourse in the field of contemporary art with a focus on the curatorial. Students will have the opportunity to engage both in theory as well as in practice. Unique to this programme is its focus on Southeast Asia, which is culturally rich and highly diverse in its infrastructures. Singapore's geographical positions provides an ideal base to study recent developments in the arts, archival practices, spaces of presentation and representation that are linked to Southeast Asia's different historical trajectories.

Students in the programmes will be supervised and taught by international faculty of ADM (http://www.adm.ntu.edu.sg/aboutus/Pages/Faculty.aspx). In addition to a wealth of opportunities offered by ADM / NTU, students of the programmes will study and pursue research in close proximity to NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore's resident artists and visiting scholars. Furthermore, students can partake in curatorial and research projects, exhibitions, symposia and other events at ADM / NTU, NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore and other affiliated institutions in Singapore and beyond.
