Slovenia | MGLC Švicarija critic-in-residence 2024
MGLC Švicarija, a creative and residential centre, in collaboration with the Igor Zabel Association for Culture and Theory, invites international art historians, art critics and cultural journalists to apply for a fully funded, one-month residency in Ljubljana, Slovenia, from 1 to 31 October 2024.
The aim of the international residency programme is to support the exploration and reflection on contemporary visual art. They welcome art writers who wish to engage with and reflect on the local art scene. The residency focuses on one of the following areas:
- Ljubljana’s art scene (artists and art communities, art and cultural institutions, art events)
- 70 years of the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts (research of the various aspects of the Biennale from its beginning in 1955 to nowadays)
In the case of candidates wishing to write about the Ljubljana art scene, priority will be given to critics/journalists with confirmation for publishing the text in relevant media.
What is offered?
- Free accommodation
- Reimbursement of travel expenses to and from Ljubljana (up to 500 EUR from European countries, up to 900 EUR from non-European countries)
- Stipend for living expenses (approximately 1,350 EUR per month gross / 45 EUR gross per day);
- Support in getting to know the local art scene
- Support in researching the Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts
