SOILSCAPE European and Transnational Projects 2026–2027

SOILSCAPE is calling for applications from individual applicants and small consortia consisting of up to three parties that can integrate artistic, creative and/or participatory approaches to raise awareness and engagement with soils and their preservation. Applicants are encouraged to build consortia that bring together soil science with artist/creative partners. Only legal entities from Horizon Europe eligible countries will be accepted.
The SOILSCAPE story began with a group of 19 pioneers, analogous to musicians, having the same objective to help boost soil awareness and care. The heart of SOILSCAPE lies in its network of 8 Artistic and Creative Soil Orchestras (ACSOs), between France, Switzerland, Portugal, Italy, Bulgaria, Germany, Poland and Finland. Each ACSO serves as a hub for artistic expression, scientific collaboration, and public engagement, making soil literacy a vibrant part of our cultural landscape.
The SOILSCAPE FSTP category includes the selection of 12 sub-projects at different geographic scales (local, national, transnational) within three specific strands of action, lasting 6, 12 or 18 months. The three strands include:
- Develop innovative communication campaigns
- Organise and promote artistic-soil related activities
- Deploy innovative, creative, and participatory methodologies to engage citizens with soil protection and preservation
The European/Transnational category is the largest scale sub-projects and should conduct activities that involve at least two countries, with the focus on shared challenges and opportunities across borders, particularly in Europe. These sub-projects should also align with EU-level priorities and foster collaboration among different countries and regions. Transnational sub-projects are expected to apply with consortia of two or three participants.
Budget
One European/transnational sub-project will be funded up to 150,000 EUR.
