The Substation Open Call
The Substation invites artists to submit proposals to be presented at The Substation in September 2012 as part of The Substation SeptFest programme celebrating its contemporary art space’s anniversary. The Substation Open Call programme was first initiated in 2008 as a visual art platform to support and realise strongly artistic, critical and rigorous visual arts proposals. It was subsequently expanded to include performance and sound art.
Since its inception, Open Call has been a consistent platform for showcasing the work of emerging artists, and has become an important event in the local contemporary art scene, for identifying and supporting the work of promising artistic talents who often go on to create a great body of new artistic work.
- Visual Art Open Call 2012 looks for proposals with strong artistic ideas and critical rigour that demonstrate a fit with The Substation’s artistic mission and with The Substation Gallery’s role as a contemporary art space.
- Performance Open Call 2012 invites local artists to submit proposal with a strong performance element and possesses strong artistic ideas and critical rigour in the concept and design for the four-dimensional space, The Substation Theatre.
- Sound Art Open Call 2012 looks for proposals that deal with sound and space in their practice to showcase their artwork.
